ARRCC is committed to working for climate justice in a way which is respectful to all persons. This policy outlines our ongoing obligations to you, our supporters, in respect of how we manage your personal information.

We are guided by the Australian Privacy Principles (the “APPs”) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (the “Privacy Act”). This policy describes the way we collect, hold, use and store your personal information. What is Personal Information?

Personal information is information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable whether the information or opinion is true or not, and whether the information is recorded in a material form or not.

ARRCC collects a limited amount of personal information such as: names, addresses, email addresses, faith affiliation (if any) and phone numbers. This personal information may be obtained in many ways including surveys, correspondence, conversations, email and from publicly available sources.

All information is used solely for the purpose of our faith-based work to protect the environment, in particular the earth’s climate. We collect personal information to allow us to send you opportunities to participate in our campaigns,provide information about our organisation, and to respond to your questions, comments and complaints. We may also use your personal information for the purposes of our internal administrative, research, planning, marketing, campaigns and project development.

We are committed to keeping your personal information solely for ARRCC’s intended purposes. We will not make it available to third parties, except where supporter/s have been specifically asked and they have given permission. We do our best to ensure that subscription to our e-mails is ‘opt-in’ and subscribers could unsubscribe at any time.

If you do not or are unable to provide us with the requested personal information, we may not be able to provide you with the information or service that you have requested.

How We Collect and Store Personal Information

ARRCC collects the information you provide to us via our website or email. 

We hold your personal information on NationBuilder. It is a content management platform that supports our database, communications, website, campaign supporters and donations.

Security of Personal Information

Your personal information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These include internal reviews of our data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures.

When your personal information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your personal information. However, most of the personal information is stored in our NationBuilder database.

Given that we aim to empower volunteers to mobilise their communities and networks, there are a number of volunteers who are authorised to access information relevant to their work. However, the Committee takes all reasonable steps to ensure that volunteers who have access are trustworthy, and are informed of their duty of care with regards to your personal information. The level of access to the various capabilities of our NationBuilder platform are proportional to each volunteer’s needs in order to carry out their work.

Personal information is held only for as long as the personal information remains relevant to the purpose for which it was collected

Access to Your Personal Information

You may access the personal information we hold about you and to update and/or correct it, subject to certain exceptions. If you wish to access your personal information, please contact us at [email protected]

Maintaining the quality of your personal information

It is important to us that your personal information is up to date. We will take reasonable steps to make sure that your personal information is accurate, complete and up-to-date.

If you find that the information we have is not up to date or is inaccurate, please advise us as soon as practicable. You may ask us to provide you with details of the personal information we hold about you, and copies of that information. We will respond to your request and attempt to provide you with the data within 30 days of receipt of your request.
